The Innovation Agenda

A dynamic guide to our themes

The calls in our program target specific, relevant challenges. By mapping these, we maintain a clear overview, quickly identify blind spots, and connect related initiatives.

This interconnectedness is reflected in our Innovation Agenda—the first version of which we're sharing here. It was shaped through co-creation sessions with developers, researchers, IX educators, designers, and IX users from both public and private sectors.

These sessions yielded hundreds of questions, which were categorized into seven main themes, each with three sub-themes. Based on feedback from the community and input from the Advisory Board, this version was simplified to three main themes, each with three sub-themes.

These eight societal challenges form the foundation of the Innovation Agenda:

  1. Urban planning and housing
  2. Safety, calamities and resilience
  3. Healthcare and wellbeing
  4. Sustainability, energy and circular economy
  5. Labor productivity and employability
  6. Social cohesion, integration and anti-discrimination
  7. Online habitats and hybrid society
  8. New revenue and future industries

The themes that make up the Innovation Agenda are not set in stone. Societal developments evolve rapidly, and technological advancements move even faster. That is why the Innovation Agenda is a dynamic list—continuously updated, refined, and sharpened.

Alongside the Public Values we uphold and the societal challenges we aim to address, the Innovation Agenda serves as a guiding compass for CIIIC and for everyone working with us.
