Job Opening: CIIIC Advisory Board Member

Do you have a passion for Immersive Experiences (IX)? CIIIC is looking for a enthusiastic member for IX in the Netherlands with the profile 'presentation institution' who wants to join the Advisory Board.

The CIIIC program has started, and a large number of parties are working with this ambitious and groundbreaking program to stimulate the social applications of 'immersive experiences' (IX). IX plays an increasingly important role in our lives. Think of virtual reality, 360-degree images/video, augmented reality, chatbots, interactive animation, and games.  

About CIIIC

CIIIC (Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition) is the National Growth Fund program with which the Netherlands wants to become an international leader in the field of Immersive Experiences (IX). With an investment of €200 million, CIIIC is working on innovation, knowledge development, entrepreneurship, and social impact. Within CIIIC, creative professionals, knowledge institutions, companies, and governments collaborate on the future of the digital and physical world. Safeguarding public values is considered essential in all activities. 

The Role of the Advisory Board  

IX is a field that is fully developing and evolving. In CIIIC, connections are constantly sought with the parties involved with IX in the Netherlands, and the advisory board plays a crucial role in this.  

The Advisory Board:  

  • provides requested and unsolicited advice on substantive main lines to the CIIIC program team, with the aim of ensuring that the content, activities, and results of CIIIC meet the needs in the field, as also reflected in the CIIIC Innovation Agenda.  

  • is kept informed of relevant developments within CIIIC by the director of the program team, can be asked for advice by her, but also has the opportunity to advise the program director on content unsolicited,  

  • coordinates with the IX field in consultation with the program director and gathers needs and input from the field,  

  • consists of representatives from the groups that collectively form the IX community. The aim is to have a composition that provides the broadest and most complete reflection of the entire community,  

  • meets at least twice a year in full composition. For drafting and issuing advice, the advisory board can form smaller working groups.  

 

Who are we looking for?  

To begin with: people with a passion for IX. It is an advantage if you have expertise in the field of public values and design research in experimental environments.

The Advisory Board consists of 24 members from the IX world, with various profiles represented: IX creators, research, education, cultural organizations, clients, and other NGF projects. The current members of the Advisory Board can be seen here.

We are currently looking for a candidate for the following position: a representative of cultural organizations or presentation institutions (e.g., film festivals, broadcasters, museums, libraries).

Note: you cannot participate in the Advisory Board if you are an employee or director connected to to the Ministry of OCW or one of the five implementing organizations of CIIIC: CLICKNL, NWO/Regieorgaan-SIA, Creative Industry Stimulating Fund, Netherlands Enterprise Agency, and TNO.  

 

What do we expect from you?  

From members of the Advisory Board, we expect:  

  • a professional background and experience that matches the requested profile you are responding to (IX creators, research, education, cultural organizations, private or public clients/applicators, representation of other NGF projects),  

  • an extensive relevant network,  

  • understanding of immersive technology and the challenges in applying it,  

  • an open and inviting style of communication,  

  • able to attend at least 2 advisory board meetings per year. Meetings are held in a central location in the Netherlands.  

 

Appointment and Remuneration  

The members of the Advisory Board are appointed for the full duration of the program (2025-2029) and receive a meeting fee for their efforts.
