CIIIC seeks new member for Advisory Board

For the Advisory Board, we are looking for someone with a passion for IX, specifically: a representative of (public) clients or users of IX (other than the ministries of OCW, BZK, and EZ).

In the coming five years, a large number of parties will engage in the ambitious and groundbreaking CIIIC program to stimulate the societal applications of 'immersive experiences' (IX). IX plays an increasingly important role in our lives. Think of virtual reality, 360-degree images/videos, augmented reality, chatbots, interactive animation, and games.

CIIIC is looking for a candidate who, as an ambassador for IX in the Netherlands, wants to join the program's Advisory Board.

About CIIIC

CIIIC stands for Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition. With this program, funded by the National Growth Fund, we (the Ministry of OCW together with CLICKNL, NWO/Regieorgaan-SIA, RVO, Creative Industries Fund NL, and TNO) want to enable the creative industry and content creators to seize opportunities around immersive experiences. We do this by enhancing capacity in the areas of human capital, education, facilities and labs, knowledge, methods, and validation. The program looks at applications in culture, games, media and entertainment, events, healthcare, manufacturing industry, built environment, and government services.

The proposal was approved by the Council of Ministers on March 15, 2024. The National Growth Fund allocated 102.3 million euros for the first phase of three years (2025 to 2027) and 97.7 million euros conditionally for the second phase (2028 to 2029). See ciiic.nl for more information.

The Role of the Advisory Board

IX is a field that is fully developing and evolving. In CIIIC, connections are constantly sought with the parties involved with IX in the Netherlands, and the advisory board plays a crucial role in this.

The Advisory Board:

  • provides solicited and unsolicited advice on substantive main lines to the CIIIC program team, aiming for the content, activities, and results of CIIIC to meet the needs in the field, as also reflected in the CIIIC Innovation Agenda.
  • is kept informed by the program team's director of relevant developments within CIIIC, can be asked for advice by her, but also has the opportunity to advise the program director on content unsolicited,
  • coordinates with the program director and the IX field, gathering needs and input from the field,
  • consists of representatives of the groups that collectively form the IX community. The goal is to have a composition that reflects the entire community as broadly and completely as possible,
  • meets at least twice a year physically in full composition. For drafting and issuing advice, the advisory board can form smaller working groups.
